Ход урока
Организационное начало урока:
1. Good morning! We continue to speak about young people and the theme of our today’s lesson is “Is it easy to be young?” Have you got any ideas what we are going to talk about? Yes, we are going to talk about teens’ rights, their problems, the solutions to solve these problems and during our lesson we must come to the conclusion if it is easy to be young or not. In order to make our lesson more interesting and unusual imagine that you are all the participants of TV chat show “Let them speak…” As for me, I will be a TV presenter of this chat-show. Well, I think that everybody is ready to start our programme..

2 .Warm-up. Firstly, I would like to know which words come to your mind when you hear such words as

teenagers
youngsters
young people

3. Youth is the time when young people start writing their poems. Look and read.
I want to live and not to die.
I want to laugh and not to cry.
I want to feel the summer sun.
I want to sing when life is fun.

I want to fly into the blue,
I want to swim as fish can do.
I want to shake all friendly hands
of all the young of other lands.

I want to work for what is right.
I want to love and not to fight.
I want to laugh and not cry,
I want to live and not to die.

Do you have rights to do all these things? What rights have you got? What document allows you to do it? When did Russia join the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child?
Listen and name the right. Start your answer with the words : The right ……

1. School should help children develop their skills, teach them, and prepare for adult’s life.
….. to education and development.
2. The Government must give children good medical care and try to reduce the number of deaths in childhood.
…..to health and health care.
3. The Government should protect children from harm, cruelty and dangerous drugs.
…..to protection.
4. Every child should have a chance to rest and play.
…..to leisure.
5. All children should have the rights whatever their race, sex, language, disability or family.
…..to non- discrimination.
6. All children must get a name when they are born and become a citizen of a particular country.
…..to name and nationality at birth.
7. Nobody can open children’s letters and listen to their phone calls.
…..to privacy.
8. Children can get information, especially that would make their life better.
…..to information.

4.In spite of having all these rights, sometimes children have problems which make teens depressed and unhappy.
a) What are these problems?
b) What are the reasons of these problems?
c) Who can help?
But not only parents, teachers and the Government can help teens. Modern magazines have problem pages where children can ask for help.
Listen and answer:
1. What relationship is the writer having problems with?

Dear Aunt Andrea
I’m writing to you because I don’t know who to ask for advice. My problem is quite simple, but it’s ruining my life. I don’t get on with my parents. They are driving me mad! I have tried to please them, but they never seem to be satisfied with what I do. Sometimes it gets so bad at home that I feel like walking out on them. I’m getting on well at school, so that isn’t the problem.
I really don’t know what is to blame, but I always seem to be arguing with them. I can’t do anything right. I wish they would leave me alone. Whenever I go out they’re really nosy, they want to know who I am going, and when I am going to be home. It isn’t fair! I don’t ask them where they’re going when they go out! Last night, I stormed off because they were interfering in my private life. I’ve been going out with my boyfriend for three months and everything was fine, apart from my parents, that is!
When we’re on speaking terms, everything is fine, but when we argue, they won’t even let me talk to him on the phone! My boyfriend soon got sick of this, and he dumped me! Imagine losing your boyfriend because of your parents! I wish I hadn’t told them about him!
Sometimes I wish I was an orphan! I do love my parents, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t know what I should do to make the situation at home bearable. I can’t go on like this. Please help me. I don’t know what to do!
Yours
Desperate

2.What advice would you give to this girl ?
3. What advice is given in the reply by Aunt Andrea? Were you of the same opinions?
Read and compare.

Dear Desparate
Thank you very much for your letter. I am really sorry to hear that things are bad at home. However, if you take my advice seriously, the situation will get a lot better.
Under the circumstances, I think we should look at your relationship with your parents. In your letter, you don’t mention whether the problem is mainly with your mum, or your dad, or both. If you get on better with one parent, try talking to him/her first. You say in your letter that you can’t please them, but have you asked them what they expect from you?
You must remember that above all, your parents love you. When they ask you where you are going, and who you are going with, they are doing this because they care about you. So, don’t feel that they are not giving you freedom-they’re just showing that they love you!
As for the phone calls, why don’t you try to come to an agreement with your parents? You could try to explain that it makes your life really difficult if you can’t answer the phone, and perhaps you could agree on a time when you can use the phone. As for your boyfriend, I hate to say this, but he can’t be very understanding if he stopped seeing you just because you can’t speak to him on the phone.
To sum up, I think you all agree that things can’t continue in the same way. Try to talk to your parents more. If you know what you want you should all get on a lot better.

Best wishes
Aunt Andrea

4. And what about you? Do you have the same problems? How do you solve your problems?
( yчащиеся дают развернутые ответы на вопросы)

5. One of the features of being young is dating.
a) Is dating very important for youngsters?
b) Does it give you more confidence?
c) What boys attract girls and what girls attract boys? Answer these questions using the following phrases:

In my opinion,... a) they must be…
I am sure… b) it is a good idea if he/she is….(has….)
I think… c) it is also very important for boys (girls) to be….
To my mind,… if the can…
if they have…

Girls! Would you like to date this young man? Let’s play “Blind date”. Ask your questions and then decide if you want to date him or not.( На доске находится фотография известного молодого человека , прикрепленная oбратной стороной. Ученицы задают вопросы о внешности молодого человека.)

6. Another feature of being young is listening to music wherever they are. And you? Are you good at music? Do you know many genres of music?
Listen and match.

1. A. rock
2. B. pop
3. C. jazz
4. D. classical
5. E. rap
6. F. funk
7. G. soul
8. H. heavy metal

7. Clothes can also show that you belong to this or that age group. Today it is very modern to wear T-shirts with different mottos. Imagine that you are designers and you have to create a T-shirt with a motto that can reflect the state of being young; teens problems; their wishes and so on. Divide into three groups and create your own motto. You have two minutes for this task. ( Заранее учителем были приготовлены красочные футболки, сделанные из ватмана, ученикам нужно придумать и написать надпись в отведенном месте).

8. Well, our TV programme is going to its end. Now it’s time to answer the question “Is it easy to be young?” ( Учащиеся рассказывают сообщение по данной теме, которое являлось их домашним заданием).

9.Итоги урока.
