Конспект урока "Национальный парк Йосемити"
Предмет: Английский язык

Тема урока: Поездка в национальный парк Йосемити
Цели урока:
Образовательная: научить описывать национальный парк Йосемити, используя конст-рукцию «Сложное дополнение»;
Развивающая: развивать навыки чтения с общим охватом содержания;
Воспитательная: формировать сознательное отношение к проблемам окружающей среды.
Оборудование: компьютер, проектор, интерактивная доска, электронная презентация, раздаточный материал (тексты с заданием, билеты для лотереи)

Ход урока

I. Организационный момент
Учитель (П): Good morning, class! Sit down please!
We continue to follow Lisa’s adventures in Camp Pineland. As you remember she was given the Nature Club. And now Lisa and other members of this club are prepar-ing for the hike to Yosemite National Park. (Слайд 1, 2) Please, tell me about the topic of our lesson today.
Учащиеся (У): Yosemite National Park.
П: Yes, you are right. What we are going to do in the lesson?
У: We learn something about National Park..
П: It's true. What else?
У: We discuss the environment.
П: Yes, you are absolutely right. Let’s begin!

II. Подготовительный этап
П: What is a national park? What do you think?
У: It's special territory.
П: Yes, you are right. But what territory?
У: It is protected from human activity.
П (обобщая сказанное): Yes, sure. A national park is a piece of natural land pro-tected from most human activity.(Слайд 3)

III. Работа с текстом
П: So, let’s go to Yosemite National Park. Nastya, help us please. Tell us about this park.
(Заранее подготовленный учащийся выступает с презентацией о национальном парке Йосемити)
П: Thank you very much, Nastya! Do you have any questions to Nastya?
What did we know about this national park?
У: It‘s in California.
П: Yes, you’re right. What else?
У: It is situated in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada.
П: Yes, you are right. Because it’s a national park, there are some rules, which we should follow. We have to know them. Here they are. (Приложение 1) Then you should choose the right heading and the picture. There are two extra headings.(Слайд 4)
Here you can see new words which you meet in the text. (Слайд 5)
(Учащиеся получают текст с заданием и приступают к выполнению)

П: Excellent, we learned a lot of interesting things about Yosemite National Park. I offer you to summarize all this information in form of the cluster (Слайд 7). What thoughts and ideas do you have when you see this name? What can you say about the rules in this park? What should we do and what shouldn’t we do in the national park Yosemite?

П: What do you think why do people make such places as national parks?
(Учащиеся выдвигают свои предположения и версии)

V. Закрепление грамматики
П: Last time we touched on Complex Object (Слайд 8). And now Darina remem-bered us what it is and when we should use it.
(Заранее подготовленный учащийся рассказывает о сложном дополнении)
П: Now we’ll train our skills. I offer you a lottery. (Слайд 9) (Приложение 2) You take a ticket and do the exercise. You should do it not only fast, but also right. First three winners get excellent marks. Let’s start! (Учащиеся вытягивают билеты и приступают к выполнению заданий)

VI. Итоги урока (Cлайд 10)
П: Today we have done a lot of interesting things – we have visited Yosemite Na-tional Park, have learned how to behave there, have played a lottery. And now I want you to estimate your results in this lesson be yourself.

П: If you want to get “satisfactory” you should only learn new words. But if you want to get “good” or “excellent” you should make up your own dialogue with new words.

Yosemite National Park
Read the information and match it with heading and picture. There are two extra headings with no matches.
Yosemite is a place of wilderness. We do our best to protect it. A small fee is charged to enter the park. Be sure to make a reservation for the campgrounds if you want to spend the night in the park.
Pets, cars and bicycles are not allowed on wilderness trails.
All visitors are required to respect the rules and regulations in order to enjoy the wilderness safely.
a) Planning your hike:
- Evaluate your abilities honestly. Make plans that will suit the weakest members of your group.
- Be sure to carry a map and compass with you all the time.
- Plan a lot of time for rest, food preparation and storage, and campsite selection.
- Always check weather conditions and be ready for sudden changes. You should be pre-pared for extreme cold, sudden rain, strong wind, morning or evening fog and high temperatures re-gardless of the season.
- Think carefully about what equipment you are going to need. Always carry extra food and water.
b) In the park it is illegal:
- To feed wild animals
- To hunt animals
- To collect plans or cones
- To camp outside the camping areas
- To collect reptiles or insects, particularly butterflies
- To pick up or use food from the surrounding areas
- To make any permanent changes to campsites
Because of fire danger, campfires are permitted ONLY from 5.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m.
Quiet hours are between 10.00p.m. and 8.00 a.m.
Because of bears, proper food storage is necessary 24 hours a day.

Drowning is believed to be the number 1 cause of death in national parks. Be especially careful near rivers and streams. The rivers may seem safe, but if you fall in, it will soon prove to be nearly imposs-ible to get out. The water is very cold and the current is strong. It can quickly drain all your strength even if you are a good swimmer.

“The weather in California is supposed to be good all the time”. Please beware that this miscon-ception can cost you your life. Afternoon thunderstorms are not rare, so don’t get caught in one by acci-dent. As soon as you see dark clouds or hear distant thunder, find shelter immediately. Do not try to hide under a tree – get inside a building. If you are out in the wilderness, find a cave. It is as dangerous to stay in open meadows as it is to stay in the forest. You should also stay away from any body of water and all open metal construction which can attract lightning from a distance.

Ticks are common in the forests of the Sierra Nevada. You should wear clothing that covers your arms and legs and check yourself carefully. Tick bites can be dangerous, as some of them are known to carry Lyme disease. Although ticks of this region of the US are unlikely to be infected, you should still tell a doctor immediately if you find a tick on your body.

Watch where you step and what you touch. In the Sierra Nevada, you are likely to come across a rattlesnake, a protected species in Yosemite. Although thought to be aggressive, these snakes are unlikely to attack if you don’t provoke them. You must get immediate help if you get bitten. If you are near a pay phone, call 911.

Mountain lions, sometimes called cougars, live in this area. You are unlikely to see one, but if you do, be on your guard. Mountain lions have been reported to attack people, especially children. Don’t hike alone. Be aware of what is around you at all times. If you come into contact with a mountain lion, you need to show it that you are not prey or can be dangerous. First, try to give it a way to escape. If it stays, don’t try to run away but back away slowly. A mountain lion is likely to follow you if you run. If you are with other people, stay together to look bigger and don’t try to hide. If the mountain lion shows signs of aggression, shout and throw stones and sticks at it. If it attacks, fight back!

Yosemite National Park is home to a large black bear population. Bears are naturally afraid of people, but unfortunately, their natural instincts have been changed by easy access to human food in the park. In the past tourists used to leave their rubbish all over the area and the bears proved to be very quick learners. They liked human food so much that they lost their natural fear of us and started behaving aggressively. In order to find our food, bears have been known to break into cars, trailers, tents, and other camping equipment.
Each year black bears have to be killed in Yosemite National Park as a result of human mistakes. You can save a bear’s life if you follow some simple rules. Get special metal boxes to store your food. Don’t leave any food in the car. Even if your food is in unopened boxes, cans or packages, a bear is likely to smell it. Dispose of your food into the special bins. Keep all the doors and windows of your cabin closed. Don’t let a bear approach your food. If you are near a bear, shout and make large gestures with your arms. If a bear does happen to get your food, don’t try to take it back.
